What the Heck is a Bernedoodle?
The Bernedoodle is a hybrid breed resulting from crossing the lovable, charming Bernese Mountain Dog and the super intelligent, hypoallergenic Standard poodle. AKA the biggest, cuddliest companion that you’ll ever meet, with a more allergy friendly coat!
Structurally, this breed is a work of art. Tall and elegant like the Standard Poodle with the strength and beauty of the Bernese Mountain Dog. However, instead of entering the show-ring, they’re usually found upside down on the couch in your spot, joining the yearly family camping trip, or enjoying a run on the beach. You name it, they’re in. Say hello to your new best friend, the Bernedoodle!
These dogs are as unique as their name, no two are quite the same and the combinations of each breed trait are vast. Each litter is full of surprises and truly individual puppies. Due to this level of variation, breeders are happy to help with the matching of person to puppy to best suite each other. Purebreds are bred to be as predictable as possible, this may be preferred by some, and actually us as well, as we want to raise our Bernedoodles from parents that show strong breed characteristics.
Bernese Mountain Dog
The magnificent snow dog with the giant heart. Laid back and loyal to a fault, the Bernese Mountain Dog loves his family with all his heart. Developed in the Swiss Alps, these giant tri colored good boys (and girls), are truly happiest in the snow and cold. They are equipped with a heavy double coat, which suits their preference to the cold, which unfortunately means they shed. A lot.
Like many purebred breeds, the Bernese are susceptible to hip and elbow dysplasia as well as some inherited cancers, heart disease and epilepsy. Unfortunately, the Bernese is not a long-lived breed, with a life expectancy of just seven years.
As with all breeds, socialization is key to your dog’s happiness and functionality in society. This is especially true for the Bernese Mountain Dogs who are generally more reserved, who can become nervous and skittish with new people or situations. However, they are people pleasers and crave praise and affection, that surpass any stubbornness they may inherit.
Do the Berner lean!

Originally bred in Germany and used mostly as water retrievers and hunting dogs, the poodle is hardly ever recognized for the love of action and adventure outdoors. The poodle is lively and playful by nature and thrives in a busy home with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
Poodles can at times, be high strung and sensitive. There are also several diseases the breed is prone to, including eye, skin, and digestive problems. Bloat, epilepsy, hip dysplasia and cancers.
